Whilst listed under Hampshire on here, the Tally Ho is just across the border in Berkshire. It is Good Beer Guide-listed and is run by the Brunning & Price chain. I'm a bit of a fan of their pubs and this one was no exception. In fact, it was just about my favourite of 9 pubs visited in Berkshire yesterday.
We arrived to a very busy car park. It was a hot sunny day and quite a few people were drinking and dining outside. There are a few tables at the front and side of the pub, with a much larger seating area to the rear which stretches back some way and is wedged between the sizeable (but full) car park and a stream/river on the other side. The garden also appeared to have an outdoor cooking space and bar.
Inside, there is a bar area to the left and right as you enter, with a dining room/conservatory overlooking the garden and the river to the rear right.
With plenty of staff on hand, service was quite efficient. Although there was some kind of Brunning & Price corporate event with a few of their managers expected to arrive imminently. The house beer is Brunning & Price Original, brewed by St Austell. 3 guest beers were Renegade Mister Chubb's, Siren Liquid Mistress & Dorking Five Claw. Another handpull was clipped with Lilley's Mango Cider. Our beers were in decent condition.

Basically an upmarket, brightly-lit gastropub with a some ales. Four on, Longdog Golden Poacher, Brunning and Price Bitter, Andwell King John, Waddies 6X. My Poacher was utterly flat, exchanged with profuse apologies (mutterings from behind the bar that ‘the gas had gone again’). The follow-up of the B&P Bitter was decent enough. A well-expensive round at £3.90 for half an ale and lemonade! Top of the stairs to the gents needs a bit of flypaper, there were a few of the critters circling. I wouldn’t feel the need to do this one again, really. I’m sure the food’s lovely, though.
