Well worth a visit for the interior alone. The interior consists of four rooms split into two levels, the slightly higher room on the right of entrance leads you into the middle section with bar area and two seated areas, which then leads to a small dining room at the far end of the building. This Grade II listed building dates from the 17th Century and an extension was added in the 1800s, which was the added dining room at the end of the building.
This is a Marston's pub, with a choice of three handpulled ales on our visit, Marston's Pedigree, Jennings Cumberland and Jennings Cocker Hoop. The pub was busy with diners on our Thurs afternoon visit. The menu had some interesting choices and prices were reasonable.

This is a very nice old stone building right next to the church, apparently Grade II listed. I was looking forward to coming here as part of our Ashover and villages crawl, though knowing that it was a MArstons pub not expecting any great shakes in the beer department. There were four hand pumps: Marstons EPA and Pedigree, Jennings Cocker Hoop and Cumberland Ale - good enough but no great shakes, as anticipated. It was pleasant enough here, and some of my drinking companions were quite impressed, but I could have done without the piped pop music, which is totally unnecessary in a quiet village inn like this.
