I was staying at the campsite behind the pub in Lydbury, near Bishops Castle, and took advantage of my hire car to explore a few pubs in the area before dinner. Hidden in narrow, twisting lanes near the sparse and scattered village of Priest Weston and in a salient of England that seems to want to separate Ystog (Stoke) from Trefaldwyn (Montgomery), this is my idea of a remote pub. There was a decent crowd in here when I arrived at 5pm on a Wednesday - the pub had been open for an hour and there must have been 20 people here. There are three hand pumps on the bar with Salopian Oracle, Wye Valley HPA and Hobsons Champion Dark Mild. I saw that the latter was being drunk so went for it and was pleased to find it NBSS 3.5. Worth seeking out.
