Proper locals pubs - tucked away, so the tourist without google maps can't find it.
An odd triangular bar serving three rooms. Meant the barman was never looking for the right way for the thirsty and too polite stranger to be served :-)
Can't remember what ales were on but they were not enticing enough to make me not have a stella.

Entered the Star again on a Monday evening when they were definitely open. Some of the local smokers tend to congregate in the front doorway, but once past these guardians it was pleasantly smoke-free and delightfully music-free too! There are three rooms and a drinking corridor surrounding a roughly triangular bar. I saw four hand pumps serving Wychwood Hobgoblin, Jennings Cock-a-hoop and Marstons Pedigree and Burton Bitter. I had the Burton, which was in good nick.
The atmosphere was convivial and I would have no problem returning here another time.

sorry but i think you wandered into the pub when we were not open since we never play music loud when we are open because people don't like it just as you don't.
