Although this place describes itself as a restaurant and boutique hotel, but the 'Champagne & Oyster Bar' is open to all if you are just looking for a drink too. The main part has quite an attractive tile-hung façade with a compact bar area and a few informal dining tables in a partly opened-out dining area beyond, a tiny lounge (decorated in what I imagine to be a bordello style) and a single-storey side extension housing the smart dining room off to the left. Two handpumps can be found on the counter, with Harvey's (£3.90, which is verging on cheap for such an upmarket establishment) as a regular beer, and a guest can sometimes be found on the other. NB - Shorn the Sheep, once an controversial artwork in Maidstone town centre, has now been put out to pasture here...
