As described below, it's a well supported local's pub with comfortable seating areas. 6 handpumps with 4 on serving Peak Ales Chatsworth Gold, Ashover Fabrick, Pheasantry It's Coming Home and Bass. I had the Peak Ales and it was priced at £4.20 a pint. Carpeted throughout and there's a seating area out the front on the busy road. It's a short bus journey from town on the No. 10. Nice to see it doing well and the locals obviously use it so all good. It's on the same road as the Chesterfield Arms too.

Situated just in front of the 13th Century Eyre Chapel, the Nags Head itself is also a Grade II listed building. Inside, there are 4 rooms, with most locals congregating in the one nearest the doorway. We chose to take a seat in there too.
Whilst Sharp's Doom Bar is the regular beer, there is a good selection of guest beers. For our visit, there was Peak Ales Noggin Filler, Chatsworth Gold & Swift Nick & Little Critters Little Hopper & Single Batch Cask Specials #12 Galaxy & Comet Session IPA. We enquired about a CAMRA discount, but apparently the price (I seem to recall less than £3 for two halves) was already substantially discounted on a Tuesday. The landlord/lady seemed quite offended with us asking.
A 4pm opener, we arrived a few minutes after opening to find a few in already. It soon filled up even more. All customers were men, mostly people finishing work, but there also appeared to be people who had attended a funeral.
Clearly a popular local boozer, I quite liked this one and would happily return. If the beer is always this cheap on a Tuesday, I know what day I will be returning.

I was surprised to read on WhatPub that this is an 18th century building with Grade II listed status. Having arrived a few minutes before opening I formed an orderly queue with one of the regulars, and we trooped in through the door in the flat roofed extension at 4pm. The bar counter is here, with smaller rooms to the right in the original building. The licensee was friendly and welcoming, and we were soon joined by others of the afternoon faithful. There were six hand pumps, with the beers listed on a blackboard to the right. I tried the Purity Ubu which was very good, and as I had a few minutes before my bus into town I went for the Doom Bar too. This was also in very good nick, but just a little bit on the cold side. I agree with Alan, "a really nice comfortable and cosy pub".
