Danny Mac’s Tavern has seating around the entrance and steps up to the bar area where a serving counter runs up the left facing a couple of high tables to the right. At the rear is a long and thin area with seating up the left and right-hand walls. Televisions throughout were airing muted Sky Sports while a midweek evening quiz was being played via a recording. The toilets are on the first floor and the second floor was blocked off so I expect there’s another bar up there for busier hours. Keg only, but there is a sausage roll and pie display case on the counter, although they didn’t look that appetising having been sat there all day. This felt like a student bar so not aimed at me.

no Cains to he found on Saturday afternoon, just Doom Bar and a couple of reversed clips. Seemed pleasant enough but not for me when there is so much superior competition, exit stage left and into the Dispensary for the usual excellent pint.

Now open as Danny Macs Tavern.. An Irish themed pub with the usual Irish bumpf dotted around. The layout is the same as before. There are 3 handpulls on the bar all dispensing Cains beers. The large grasshopper and butterfly mural on the outside wall has been replaced by a Guinness mural. Though the place ain't great it is one of the better incarnations of this pub for a good number of years.

1/12/19: Butterfly And Grasshopper;
Now The Butterfly And Grasshopper. The inside has been decorated but not much else has changed in the bar. Two handpulls on the bar of which neither was on. It wasn't particularly good beforehand and its still not particularly good. Best to go over the road to the Dizz, though the beer has gone fairly static over there lately.

8/6/15: Roscoe Arms:
Adjacent to The Dispensary. Not too bad a pub but not great and it does serve real ales. Has a life-size Elvis Presley mannequin inside (not the burger eating, drug taking 70s era Elvis). Or maybe its meant to be Billy Fury. I don't know. Don't care.
