The Three Tuns is a fairly large stand alone pub that is at the southern end of Dronfield.
Once inside i went in a largish room that looked like it had been opened out,there was an island bar and the larger area was to the left this had a raised area to the left which was set aside for diners (None in on my late afternoon visit)there is bench seating to the rear in a large bay window and stools and small tables towards the front.
This pub is a Spire house and there were 14 pumps on the go,i had a drink of Spire Whiter Shade of Pale and this was a very nice well kept pint the other Spire beers i noted were Sovereigh Escourt IPA,Dark Side of the Moon,Land of Hop and Glory,Joan Smythes Extra Sour there were other beers but too many to write down.
There were a few other customers in and i thought the pub had a decent atmosphere.

A pretty-looking pub set back from the main road, which was refurbished and re-opened in August 2011 as the Three Tuns (formerly the Hallowes), a brewery tap and freehouse for Spire. Fourteen(!) pumps on the go dispensing mainly local ales (12 - the focus being on the Spire brewery) with a cider and perry thrown in for good measure alongside some interesting keg choices (like Bernard pilsner; no mainstream stuff) and a good wine list. I tried a handful of the ales which were generally in good form and all came in at under £3pp and some were as cheap as £2.30pp. Glasses are oversized and tasters are actively encouraged, which was good to see. The interior has been completely refurbished and a lot of money spent. It's tidy but perhaps a little bland and sterile (IKEA-style light wood and white walls) though I guess that will change as things settle down. There are a number of areas in which to drink, though perhaps a little more segregation between the areas would have helped create a cosier atmosphere. Whether they can keep 14 pumps on the go in a small (if affluent) town like Dronfield is a question I’d be interested to see the answer to. Food is scheduled to be offered but the kitchen wasn't quite ready on my visit - a shame as I fancied a pizza. Pub is dog-friendly
If you like your ales and ciders, this is one for you. Could be a real destination in future.

Used to be the Masons Arms, The Hallowes has recently re-opened. No cask ale on so had to make do with a horrible pint of keg Ward's. As for the atmosphere, I've been to funeral wakes that are more lively then this place. The White Swan just down the road is a much better pub IMHO.
