Originally The Western Hotel, this pleasant Grade II listed Georgian pub provides a good place to break a rail or road journey. There is ample car parking and the pub is entered through a flagged garden terrace. There is also a large lawn with tables and benches. Inside, there are three large bars and a games room with a pool table and dartboard. Free wifi is available. They offer fairly good food and three real ales which were all well kept and most enjoyable. The business has diversified and also offers early takeaway breakfasts and pizzas. Staff are friendly and welcoming, and the locals were chatty and pleased to greet outsiders. A decent pub, well worth a visit.

lovely pub next to the station,very good food and a freindly dog.parking no problem as the stion car park is stunning 70p a day??
