Three hand pumps ordinarily dispensing Original, but none offering on my visit. The other handpump was delivering Special. Usual keg suspects of Guinness, Aspall, Estrella and the AF version, Pravha, Peroni, Camden Hells, Neck Oil, Gamma Ray, Murphy's Irish Stout, something called Damm Lemon. Smaller range than in many Youngs venues.
Quite imposing Youngs owned corner pub. Bare boarded throughout with an L shaped bar on the inside walls of an L shaped venue. Entering on the corner, there are some tall tables with backed leather stools along the windows to the right of the entrance facing the bar counter. There is a small almost triangular shaped room at the right most end with smaller regular tables and bucket style leather chairs. In front of the corner entrance as you move towards what seems a more dining focussed rear section is a large pillar with a log burner built into the structure and a sofa facing with a table in front that would make this a place to bag on a cold dark evening. The area behind has a variety of seating arrangements, regular chairs, with some velvet banquettes around parts of the inside walls. The open kitchen is on the right-hand wall beyond the end of the bar counter that doesn't quite make it into this grand area, with high ceiling and a big skylight. Indeed, with the large windows on the outside walls and the skylight there is a lot of natural light in here. The space was busy with diners on my mid-afternoon visit. At the far end there is a slightly raised area, again with regular tables and chairs laid for and occupied by diners, this having patterned ceramic tiles rather than the bare boards everywhere else. Walls have several Henry VIII pictures and related material. There is a rear garden, which is a paved affair, regular and colourful patio style tables with some dining huts over to the right most edge of the venue. Indeed, the exit to the rear garden just beyond the kitchen takes you to a slightly sunken area with patio style furniture layout suggesting this external area more set up for outside drinkers.

As the King’s Head, this pub has been in existence since at least 1826, later the Railway Hotel Kings Head before reverting; the current rather baronial structure dates from 1883. It’s situated in quite a pleasant location opposite The Green, an area which estate agents would probably describe as Winchmore Hill ‘village’.
The interior holds no surprises for a Young’s pub but is better than their average offering. Most of the tables are to the rear and laid for non-existent diners at the time of my Wednesday 8.30pm visit. The floor’s bare boarded, walls of burgundy with a white ceiling, new wood and shiny tiled bar back with tubular steel glass rack then some attractive polychromatic tiling to a fireplace surround; there’s much studded leatherette furniture giving a slightly clubby feel, patronised by the area’s well-to-do.
Sadly, Young’s seems to have ditched the Proper Job option, so it was just London Original and Special, remarkably just £3.10 a half, good, served by an attentive barman.
Cask beer aside, this is a perfectly serviceable pub, probably the best in N21, made all the more attractive for the lack of electronics and TV sport; the availability of Proper Job would have got the score up a point.

Real Ale Ray left this review about The Kings Head
A fine looking building architecturally, with a striking looking turret over the main entrance, and large bay window openings. The interior was a lot bigger than I had anticipated and the main bar was low slung and constructed from pine with some carved embellishments along the front, typical of any London pub of this era. The restaurant and snug area, had been brought up to date and both areas were quite trendy, especially the snug, which was called the Rude Room, most probably from the pictures adorning the walls. Beer wise there were four pumps, with three in use, serving Young's Bitter, Sambrooks, Doombar and the Twickenham Naked Ladies clip reading "Ale Be Back". We went for the Youngs Bitter, which was very pricey, just a pity the Twickenham wasn't put back on on our visit.
