Cask offering via two hand pumps delivering Brains Best and Brains SA. Keg range of Cruz, Brains Dark Smooth, Brains IPA Smooth, Strongbow regular and dark fruits, Carling, Carlsberg, Peroni and Inch's cider.
Brains outlet on Newport Rd. Long venue with the long bar counter in the middle of the pub on the wall away from the roadside. The venue is a very traditional bare boarded affair with lots of seating areas with most of the sporting action on screens around the main part of the pub. The far end on the left-hand side felt more like a lounge area but there wasn't an obvious dining area in this venue that felt more drinking / live sport sort of place. The area to the very right-hand side had an illuminated dart board but unused on my visit and pointed towards a skittle alley but I didn't find that area. The ceiling of the bar area was adorned with either six Nations flags or rugby jerseys and the recorded sport on the TV's was weekend past rugby action so no difficulty in establishing the slant and target crowd for this place. The walls were adorned with pictures of significant sporting action of yesteryear, yes rugby biased but not exclusively. Indeed, in front of me on the wall was a framed Daily Express front page lauding Roger Bannisters sub 4-minute mile.
