Impressive building , looking somewhat more akin to a manor house than a public house - maybe it was one in an earlier time. Called in as a group for a lunchtime meal. Dining area was quiet - despite the Inn being just off the A46 which carries a lot of tourist traffic - but a wedding party outside, who also were using a marquee made up the numbers overall. Food of good quality and service good. Four hand pulls on the bar , two in use but both selling Butcombe Original and the other two saying that 'another of our famous beers coming soon'.Call in if you are in the area.

This pub has been fully refurbished and now has a quality food offering, albeit on the pricy side. However, we called in for a drink last night and I was served a 10/10 pint of Butcombe Original, so if you are passing on the A46 and fancy a pitstop, it is now worth a try. Three cask ales on offer and a good range of malt whiskies.
