This must be one of the strangest pubs around the area. The bar's in the cellar (the name gives it away) of an Indian takeaway, but if you walk all the way through to the back and up the stairs you find the garden, hidden from the High Street and at ground level. The setting, which includes several interesting architectural features, has alsightly illicit feel to it, though it's all legal. Live music is sometimes on offer, but there was none while I was here. There were four ales in gravity fed casks on, plus Black Rat cider. I tried the latter and a pint of Celebration Ales Summer Ale, and to his credit the barman let me taste both before drinking. Both were in excellent condition. By far the best bar in Highworth, this is a must for any crawl and a great place to spend an evening.
