In any other City - this would be a destination pub for the beer variety alone. A tiny (2) roomer around a central bar, with an extensive cask, keg offering detailed on a large chalk board. More continental bottles, including dunkels, orvals and rarely seen Stiegl Goldbrau.
Only needs a handful of afternoon deserters to create an atmosphere, with some fine pubby banter from the other patrons.
A pleasure to drink in.
Starting to believe Liverpool is our finest pub City.

Sympathetically refurbed this is a now a cracking little pub. Two small rooms downstairs and a further two upstairs all nicely decorated. Friendly barmaid and a good selection of cask ales. The new owners have also recently opened the Old Tap micropub in Waterloo. The barmaid was amazed that I'd already been in there. :-)) We'll be calling in here again next time we're in this part of town.

This pub has now been taken over by the landlord of the Lion Tavern. In the advert for the pubs in MerseyAle he asks for people to bear with him as the pub is refurbished. The refurbishment has obviously started but there's still some way to go in my opinion as the outside is particularly shabby, in fact the other half didn't want to go in at all. Inside it's a very olde worlde two roomer with a fine old wooden bar in the right hand room. The room on the left has what could be described as an eclectic mix differing styles of chairs and table, there's also a couple of Bob Dylan posters but apart from that the walls are empty. Four handpumps on the bar two serving beers from the Betwixt brewery. I had a pint of the Betwixt Skyline which was very good. It's good pub that will no doubt improve again over the next few months.

With the nearby Cracke not sticking to its published opening times and with the usual dismissive attitude from the owner, we concluded our evening in Liverpool in the Belvedere.
This is a tiny mews pub with a small bar area and a side room either side of a narrow corridor. There is a unisex toilet in the corner, which has recently been refurbished and is a noticeable improvement on what was there previously.
New owners appear to be friendly and welcoming. They have retained the real ale selection, which is now listed on a large blackboard opposite the bar. Ales were Castle Rock Army of Me, Carnival Ribbons of Distinction - Nelson & Spitting Feathers Session Beer. Craft beers were Vaux Double Cross, Polly's Trouble On Central & Mobberley Loco Juice.
There's always an interesting crowd in here offering equally interesting conversation. Well worth seeking out.
