Message on Facebook (April 2020): "Many of you will know we have wanted to retire for a number of years and that we have been trying to sell the business. There has been no interest so we have looked at many options to make the property more interesting to prospective purchasers. We have recently submitted an application to convert the whole premises resulting, hopefully, in an approval for [six] dwellings within all of the existing buildings (no development of the land). Please be assured that whilst we have to explore all our options to retire we would clearly prefer to leave the Newdrop as a going concern." On the pub's website (www.thenewdrop.co.uk) there is an undated but presumably subsequent message saying that the pub is closed and will not reopen.
