Bucking Fastard left this review about The Borough

A fine Georgian building housing a smart pub,the entrance has a portico and leads to an open plan interior on both sides with the bar towards the rear right. To the left are a series of small sections away from the bar, while there is a rear dining room laid for service then a beer garden. There is a lot of original wood fittings and panelling ,a most pleasing interior.
The high quality extend to the ale range which on our crawl visit was Lunebrew Pale Ale and Lune valley Gold (NBSS Good),Goffs Jouster and Magic Rock Hat-Trick.Well worth including on any ale crawl around the city ,an upmarket stop.

An upmarket pub in a resplendent Georgian building with lots of brass and leather furnishings. There is a mix of high and low tables round the front rooms, a larger dining room behind and a patio at the back, also a function room upstairs. Four or five ales were on handpump included a nice Lune Valley Gold, with some craft keg also.

Rob Hunter left this review about The Borough

Visited in September 2025 and had heard that I was likely to find Lune Brew beers available here, but sadly this was not the case at the time of my visit. Five of seven hand pulls in operation, and one of the out of action pulls appeared to have a reversed Lune Bitter clip, so I guess I was unlucky with my timing. Of the available ales, two were by Handsome and two by Bank Top. My Top Knot by Handsome was OK but nothing to get excited about.

It's quite a fancy looking place and the barman was in overalls, perhaps suggesting a dining focussed establishment. There was a delay in someone coming to the bar to serve.

Furniture consists of sofas with low tables, high tables and stools, and low tables with chairs. There is a room to the rear, perhaps more for dining.

The old plasterwork detail in the front room ceilings was nice. The front space looked like it may have been two rooms at some point, but is now opened up.

Toilets are upstairs, as is a function room. A further floor above was not investigated. Disabled toilet available on the ground floor.

Nice to have tried it but not sure I feel the need to rush back.
