A small traditional inn which has been extended rearwards to add a couple of dining rooms and a public bar, as well as a beer garden and a decent sized car park. It's a little awkward to get to when the traffic is heavy, and especially if the X6 bus is pulling out of the side road that you want to turn into, but we managed somehow. There are two hand pumps, but the demand for cask beer is not enough to sustain that many, so there's what the barman told me is the very popular Ulverston Celebration Ale, brewed to commemorate a Laurel and Hardy statue being unveiled. This was in very good condition (NBSS 3.5 or 4), and as I said at the time, better one very good beer than two mediocre ones.
