Strongers . left this review about The Railway Arms
On a recent Monday afternoon visit the left-hand bar of the Railway was empty, so I remained in the small right-hand side with three or four locals who were sat chatting with the barmaid at the counter. The floor is covered in blue carpet tiles that match the blue upholstered chairs found at tables along the front and rear walls. The busy walls throughout are adorned with breweriana, England flags and bunting and etched mirrors, I would class this as a proper old school local. The cask has gone, so a limited standard keg selection was available alongside Staropramen, I had half a lager and sat at one of the tables by the rear window that looks out onto a cosy looking beer garden. There was some muted snooker airing on the television via BBC and random background music was playing off the jukebox, any modern club music was skipped. This pub is located adjacent to the Railway Station, but the reaction of the barmaid as I approached led me to believe that non-locals are a scarcity in here. I was accepted when I pulled out a tenner, but I wouldn’t say this place is welcoming, so I doubt I’ll ever return.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Railway Arms
Busy two-bar local, with an unusual arcaded front now high above street level (presumably because the road was lowered at some stage to go under the adjacent Great Western Main Line to replace a level crossing). Features a compact lounge and larger public bar with basic, traditional furniture and decor. Rear patio beer garden. A solitary handpump in the public bar, offering an OK pint of Rev James at £3.50.
