Still a single Pride handpump the other week but the quality was much better. I do really like this place and it's worth a visit.
November 2013
Tiny two-roomed pub, which used to sell two ales in great condition (Pride and a guest) but quality of beer and availability of the guest has gone to pot, now it's usually just a fair pint of Pride most days. I hope it recovers soon because it used to be ‘must-visit’. Internally has lots of character and is stuffed full of odd nik-naks (as opposed to tat), David Dickinson would like it in here. Enormous garden out the back too. Real fires and no fruit machines, music etc. If you’re lucky there might be some free peanuts on offer. Best to phone beforehand as the opening times are rather random; if driving past, look out for the A-board outside. If it's there, they are open. It’s only two minutes from Shinfield village and easily walkable if you can brave crossing the main road. Still worth a visit for the experience.
