Permission granted for the building to be extended and converted into a vets. An outbuilding will also be demolished with two houses, one three-bed and one four-bed, set to be added.

Brakspear pub, with two mini cannons out the front (reason unknown!). Long and flat interior, three buildings mashed into one. Felt like a crèche on our Saturday afternoon visit, with small kids everywhere and a Krypton Factor assault course of toys on the floor. Finally getting to the bar proved worthwhile - three on from the Marstons stable, Brakspear Bitter, Jennings Bullseye and Hobgoblin; the Bullseye was in very good. Live music must be big here, noticed some scribbles on one of the walls from the likes of Kaiser Chiefs and Ding Dong Daddios. 6 Nations rugby on the TV and food served. Mrs Quinno’s eye was taken by the cheese board with a very unusual selection including Alex James’ Blue Monday and gluten free crackers being offered as an option. Dog-friendly pub. Of considerable comment were the terminals above the urinals, some kind of urine-fuelled rugby game involved apparently…! Anyways, it was a decent stop and I can see it appealing to the 30something with kids brigade. So fair enough - my beer was good. According to WhatPub there are also twice-yearly beer festivals here too.
