The Cellar seems to have improved since our last visit in 2013. Although it hadn't long changed hands and become the City Bar when we were here last. We arrived at midday opening, as the young barmaid and older barman were setting up.

This is a fairly compact single room bar with plenty of TVs for watching sport. There is also a TV next to the bar listing the available beers and ciders through Untappd. Timothy Taylor Landlord is the regular cask ale. Guests were The Kernel Spring Pale Ale: Krush, Rooster's Yankee, Burning Sky Plateau & Elusive Oregon Trail. Ciders were SeaCider Blood Orange & Thistly Cross Whisky Cask. Meanwhile, there are plenty of craft beers - Emperor's Executor, Siren Lumina, Doskiwis Weightless, Omnipollo Pieroma Prickly Pear Guava Creme Brulee, Funky Fluid Gelato: Royal Orange, Burning Sky Celebrated Summer Pale Ale, Yonder Pecan Pretzel & Dusty's Ginger Beer. My Kernel beer was in good shape.

With a much larger and more varied beer selection than previously, I was fairly impressed. This is certainly a place that will be on my shortlist for any future days/evenings out in Chester. There is a CAMRA discount, but it is not available on a Friday or a Saturday.
