Quite a quirky multi level interior with more room at the rear than you initially think. 1 real ale.

Not much has changed in the six years since I was last here, still with four pulls, two beers from Maxim, a cider and a blank. Craft kegs from Tiny Rebel, Thornbridge, Anarchy and er ...Theakstons. My Double Maxim was ok but not outstanding. The multi space multi level interior has been described before. Service was much like pulling teeth.

Located just down the road from the Cathedral, I'm surprised this bar has never featured in a Good Beer Guide. The local CAMRA members do meet in the downstairs area at the rear. So, it may well appear soon!
Just the 3 ales are on - Sharp's Doom Bar & Maxim Samson & Double Maxim. However, there is also a good selection of craft beers that included Dance in the Desert, Modules on the Moon & The Fall Guy, all from Anarchy. There was no real cider.
I chose the Samson, which was a very nice north eastern bitter, the likes of which I'm quite partial to. I read that they also offer a discount to CAMRA members, but I wasn't offered one.
The bar itself is quite dark of an evening with high tables and stools towards the rear. American Football was being shown on the TVs.
This was a decent bonus addition to my crawl of Durham.
