The Tors is situated in the village of Belstone, at the far northern edge of Dartmoor and just off the A30. The bar is a long room with carpet and turquoise painted walls. There are some large animal paintings. In addition, there is a separate dining room and some outdoor seating overlooking the moor.

Cask ales are served by gravity from behind the bar. The house beer is Taw Valley Shed Head. They also had Dartmoor Jail Ale & Exeter Avocet. Having only ever had a couple of beers from Taw Valley, I gave the Shed Head a try. It was quite insipid and perhaps due to the temperature, as the casks didn't seem to have any cooling. There is no real cider but Devon Red & Devon Mist from Sandford Orchards were on keg. Meanwhile, keg beer options included Powderkeg Speak Easy & Tiny Rebel Coal Drop.

Despite it being mid-afternoon, one group was eating in the bar. I didn't venture into the dining room to see if there were any further customers there but I did see more customers sitting outside enjoying the lovely views of the moor. I noticed that a cheese board was being promoted. Music was playing, free wifi is available and there are some pegging boards on a windowsill and therefore presumably some dominoes or playing cards available too. Accommodation is also available.

This pub has a lovely location. If only the beer quality could have been better....

Walking in the area - breaking up a long journey to Lands End (do they come in any other flavour). We saw the pub was recommending bookings, so phoned and made our reservation. We were warned that there was a limited menu. Just a little surprised to see just three meals on it!

Still - got to say, it was one of the best Beef Bourguignons I have ever had - superb!

Three was also the number of beers they had on - none via handpull and all gravity fed from the barrel. I'm sure my Black Tor Pride of Dartmoor would have benefited from having a bit more life in it.

Multi roomed pub - with booths in the main bar, opening out to a back dining room.
