I thought this was the better of Chideock's 2 pubs. It has a carpeted main room with some smaller sections up some steps. One of these has a large fireplace. As you would expect from the pub's name, there are quite a few clocks around. There is a piano in one corner and a dartboard in another. I'm not sure how much use either get, as they were both blocked in with tables. Music was providing the entertainment on a Friday evening (just from the speakers). Dogs are allowed in the larger upper section, near the kitchen. Outdoor seating is available on decking to the rear.

Otter Bitter & Dartmoor Jail Ale are the two regular cask ales. A guest ale was St Austell Tribute, with the fourth handpull unclipped. Ciders were only keg - Thatcher's Gold & Juicy Apple. I couldn't see any bag-in-the-box ciders. Although, I could have missed them. Food is the mainstay here. It looked like typical pub grub. Most customers were dining but there were a few drinkers on stools at the bar. Staff were friendly and welcoming.

Recently reopened after a few months’ closure, this excellent wet-led roadside pub is on the main road through Chideock but not at all ruined by tourism. There is a long, carpeted main bar at the front with a stone fireplace at either end. There is a smaller dining area at the rear, though this room had less character than the main bar. A small garden at the back is relatively comfortable and private although there is still some traffic noise. The pubs interior is light and airy despite its traditional feel. The WiFi was a bit hit and miss, but that didn’t really matter as the landlady was entertaining enough, and the two locals in were pleasant and friendly. The ales on were Otter Bitter, Otter Amber and Doombar, complemented by Pravha, Guinness, Golden Cap Lager, Offshore Pilsner, Thatcher’s Gold and Haze, and Madri, and more importantly, two boxed local ciders. A board at the bar announced forthcoming guest ales. Well worth stopping for drinks, but there is currently no food.

Ian Mapp left this review about The Clock House Hotel

A curiosity visit and the first and only pub visited in Dorset that didn't have Palmers. I went for a decent pint of Otter, but really should have had the local from Burton Braunston.

A few diners but a very reserved a quiet atmosphere for a saturday night.
