excellent country pub with a garden to die for.
kitchen draws on local suppliers only and so short but interesting menu. head chef is rumoured to be the old head chef from hotel du vin in both winchester & harrogate.
more like a family inviting you into their space than a commercial pub, highly recommended, unique.
it may not suit all, however, it seems to suit a growing client base very well indeed

Went on Saturday lunchtime, chosen on basis of recommends and uses local beers & food
A good choice it proved to be, with wide selection of local beers, none of which were "usual suspects" like John Smith
I had a Winchester Ale, very pleasant
The food is excellent, with a small but ample menu. The prices are a bit high for pub grub, BUT this was not pub grub in normal sense, all freshly prepared & cooked and nicely presented
The portions are not large, but they are tasty & filling. There were 6 of us in the party, and all were impressed
The service was unhurried, some may say slow
If you want quick cheap pub grub it's not for you
If you want excellent leisurely local food in pleasant pub and local beer come here
