Nicely summed up by Quinno, below, this neglected architectural artefact is wasted on its current population. It's not really aimed at squaddies though - they'd be far too posh for this place. The smell in particular makes it awful. Even at the front, outside, it's pungent. The locals are most definitely not friendly, and any charm it may once have had is long vanished. There is no real ale, while grubby glasses meant we chose to drink bottled Doombar rather than the uninspiring range of keg. Avoid.

You’d be forgiven for thinking this might be a hidden gem on approach, what with its lovely green tiled exterior but sadly any historical bits of the interior have long since been skipped. Inside is now a mish-mash of areas with the right side being the pseudo lounge bar as it has a carpet. The left side is more basic and hosts a jukebox loudly playing the Hokey Cokey, Shed Seven and Roxette, as well as having 2x pool tables and 2x dart boards. There’s an underlying smell of damp and old fags and taking a closer look at the walls there's clearly major maintenance work to be done on the building. The poor knock-through means that the bar is separated into two, which isn’t particularly helpful when only one member of staff is present. One ale on, a warm and ropey Doom Bar. This has the feel of being aimed at the squaddies and the more base end of the local market. 2.5

A large pub opened out inside but managing to retain a couple of separate areas, styled as part sports bar, part locals pub,I would describe it as rough and ready as well as a little tatty, not a place I would recommend you take an elderly Aunt for a sherry given the language was on the boisterous and colourful side. Two pumps for ale with only one on which was Greene King London Glory,I didn't much fancy that aside from the fact everybody in the reasonably populated pub was drinking Lager, so I settled for a Stella. Two pool tables ,a dart board and a few TV screens summed up the sports bar side of things. Beers and food were mostly the cheap side of things, my Stella costing £3.15. Not overly impressed with the place though and see no reason to return.
