This really is an unusual place, built in 2000 and essentially faux timber framed but built on the site of a very old manor house. It does have a chain fibe when entering (Youngs pubco),but the interior has been designed to gives lots of nooks and crannies and old timbers have been used quite widely. To the right side there is a rear snug, opposite the bar there is another seating section although all the furniture looks a bit beaten up.There is a quite seperate dining room to the left of the bar.The food menu is mainstream pub grub although small portion options of some mains are available. The food was decent quality.
The bar has 5 handpumps offering CW Youngs Ordinary and Special,Directors,Sharps Atlantic and Truman Runner (ok but dull brew). It's not just for dining and doubles as a local boozer , some regulars were well oiled but there was a warm welcome from behind the bar.More functional than exceptional and with a very boring ale selection I can't see any reason for a revisit.

This is a lovely looking large pub that is set back from the road by its car park and some seating by the side of the car park. There is also some more covered outside seating at the side of the pub.
This is a very food orientated pub with the larger room to the left of the bar being used as a restaurant and the other people in the atual bar area during my visit were all eating. It seemed to be popular with all generations of family and I think it is the sort of place you would take granny for a meal on her birthday.
Spitfire, Directors and Ordinary were all available alongside a standard draught selection and Amstel.
The barmaid that served me was very polite, but I don't think that I would go here again just for a drink.
