I had hoped to provide a more uplifting review than the nine-year-old one below, but when I left my bike leaning on a bench and ventured inside it was very quiet, with only the sound of cutlery being wiped and returned to the cutlery box. It was 2pm and presumably any lunchtime rush was now over. There was a solitary hand pump with St Austell Tribute, a beer I don't mind drinking normally, but I had been looking forward to something brewed locally. Fortunately, the sound of cutlery hitting cutlery had masked my approach, so I turned on my heels and skedaddled.

We were supposed to be staying here for the weekend (Aug 2010) in a group of 9. We had booked via the landlord in January 2010 and called to check the booking on 2 further occassions. On arrival after a 4 hour drive we were told they did not know anything about our booking and after waiting for about 30mins with a free drink the landlord appeared and told us he could fit us in but we would have to swap rooms on the saturday night. We had booked 5 en-suite rooms but ended up with 4 rooms and only 1 of these en-suite. The rooms are very poor, tatty and had no hot water in the morning as it had run out. Apart from that we didnt get to sleep until 3am as the music in the bar underneath is very loud. The Tanat valley inn across the road is owned by the same people and shuts earlier so is quieter but again very tatty and the rooms share 1 bath and 1 toilet. On the up side we left saturday morning after a heated row over the bill which we refused to pay full price. (We were also not aware that there was a £10 charge for the dog)The food is very good all freshly cooked and very reasonably priced, the bar is very lively, the locals and the over worked barmaid were very nice. But we would definately NOT recommend these pubs for any more than a pint and food.
