I have always been at odds with most other people when it comes to this pub. I have never really thought it was up to much. In an effort to keep an open mind I revisited recently. The only access was via the side alleyway which smelt strongly of urine. Inside a few customers were hanging around and despite the place not being busy I didn’t manage to attract the attention of any members of staff. Eventually I left. The place always seems like a run down tourist trap to me but presumably I’m missing the point as others rate it highly. Each to their own.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese

Rambling historic inn with various rooms on four levels (although not all of them are always open). Characterful wood-panelled bar and Chop Room on each side of the somewhat hidden entrance off the narrow side alleyway, with the larger rear Cheshire Bar in the covered courtyard beyond. These were very busy on a pre-Christmas Thursday evening, so headed downstairs to the somewhat quieter cellar bar. Numerous handpumps on the different bar counters; but, as a Sam Smiths house, they usually only dispense OBB, but on this long-overdue revisit I was on a quest to find the rarely produced Yorkshire Stingo (£8.00) which was in great shape and really suited the season.

Another one of those pubs that you just have to visit. It was a red hot day so the coolness of one of the many cellar rooms was most welcome.
Sam Smiths beers. Having already had an OBB elsewhere, I had a change and tried a bottle of their Organic Lager which was quite refreshing.
A must see pub!
