Visited in April 2011. The meals were excellent, well-cooked, tasty and hot.
The interior was very clean and well-kept, and the young staff on duty were extremely helpful, polite and friendly. Although next to a main road the pub was certainly not noisy, and had a great atmosphere. I can't recommend this pub more highly, it must be one of the best in the region.
I really can't understand Hilary Smith's review - it certainly doesn't relate to the pub we visited.

Visited this pub on Sunday evening in August 2010. Meal for two adults.
Grouse burger was extremely disappointing meal.
Burger was catering style like you get in the cash and carry - would expect meaty butchers home style. Bacon was burnt to a frazzle. Salad was shredded iceberg lettuce, half a tomato and a chunk of cucumber plus the ubiquitous sliced onion - imagination, come on! Chips were good. View good, road nearby and noisy.
Good food is the only way a pub can survive these days - this was not it.
Do not bother.
