My first visit to this former shop conversion pub since the Bohem Brewery took it over a few months ago and have to say I think they have done a super job converting the tired boozer that was there before.
For those not familiar Bohem Brewery are a group of Czech guys who brew Czech style beers using Czech ingredients, who started brewing in Middleton Road Bowes Park (their initial tap room is still there) before moving to the old Redemption Brewery in Tottenham.
Very comfortable one room set up with a modern clean wood decor. I particularly liked the door to no 10 in situ. Four of their house beers on the bar and a couple of guests from Kernal and Cosmic Dust for my visit.
They also have installed Czech style pumps that allow them to pour the different styles and for a laugh I tried the Snut and the Mlico, which they only charge the price of a half for. I’m clearly not enough of a connoisseur to get what’s going on here, so won’t bother with that again. But the normal pour of the dark lager was very good.
Opens at 4.30pm midweek (closed on Mondays) and by the time I left at 7pm the place was positively buzzing.
Although the address is Finsbury Park, the area is known locally as Stroud Green with Crouch Hill on the overground as the closest station.

Noticed this place had re-opened quite recently but it was closed when I visited the Goods Office opposite recently (expected as they are closed on Monday’s). This is a nice venue, long rectangle with the bar along most of the right-hand side of the venue. Lots of wood panelling, attractive glass frontage with a wooden banquette around the side of it away from the door. A fire grate on the left-hand wall with tall metal stools along most of the length of the bar. A seating area down a step or so at the back of the venue with a comfy sofa against one wall. A couple of ceiling fans but only one working created a fresh atmosphere in the venue on a muggy evening. Good music track but a bit over loud on my visit when I was one of only two punters in the venue with another sitting on the tables on the pavement out front.
As noted this is an outlet for their beers and during my visit they were offering Martina (a session lager), Amos (a Czech Pilsner), Sparta (an amber lager), Nicholas (a dark lager) and Roppongi (a Japanese rice lager). Guest beers, like house beers just on tap, were Cosmic Dust a session IPa from Gravity Well, Jeez from Drop Project, Crafty Apple and a couple from Kernel (Vic Secret a strong IPA and a raspberry Biere de Saison). Usual range of Czech spirits and a couple of wine options.
Think the brewery used to have an outlet on the Barbican end of Old St from memory but could be wrong on that front, now converted to a more typical pub named after some long deceased member of the English nobility. Postscript, realised that was Pivo! Nothing to do with my enjoyment of this venue, decent venue with some different beers and in a tranquil spot. Would definitely return.
