2025 Update
An intriguing Gothic sort of building, which sadly is not reflected in the much-modernised interior. It has all been done up in an upmarket way, with the front part having bare boards and dark green walls and a restaurant area behind in brighter colours. There is also a tabled patio at the rear. The ale range was acceptable - Triplefff Moondance, Oakham Citra, TT Landlord and Old Speckled Hen - but sadly the Landlord was off and the Moondance should have been. If the beer was in form and at the right time I suppose it would be ok but I didn't much like the general feel of the place.

A good sized and popular pub on this pleasant High Street, it looks as though it has undergone some refurbishment and is well presented with a modern, contemporary feel. It was very busy on our Friday evening visit, but that’s probably as much to do with the lack of much competition in the immediate area as anything else.
Décor wise it’s almost elegant in places with a couple of large chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, Flooring was wood strip and there was some exposed brick walling along with dark green paintwork elsewhere. Various old black and white pictures of the river were dotted around the walls. A large TV was stuck up on the wall, but fortunately this was not in use.
The menu offered a decent selection of dishes, perhaps a step or two up from your usual “pub grub”, but certainly nothing too gastro, with most of the main courses coming in at somewhere around the £12 - £15 mark. A fish pie was a pretty decent dish, a generous portion and a nice cheesy mash on top, with only the accompanying vegetables being a bit of a let-down.
Beers on tap were Truman’s Runner, Fireside and Old Dairy Blue Top whilst a fourth pump appeared to have run out. The solitary cider was Aspall’s Harry Sparrow.

Not a very inviting black exterior, but that actually didn't put me off too much, primarily because it was a glorious evening and several people were sitting on the metal tables and chairs to the front. But I guess it would not be so welcoming on a cold, bleak winters evening and it does give a portent of what is to come inside.
And what is inside is basically a very clean, bordering on sterile, modern décor wine bar feel which surprisingly has a bar supporting five handpumps.
Fortunately, being a Saturday night, it was very lively and the place had a bit of atmosphere meaning you didn’t have to concentrate on the sterile surroundings and interesting wine bottle storage techniques as referred to by previous reviewers. I did manage to find a seat in the patio beer garden out back which had the advantage of being out in the air , but the disadvantage of being next to the car park, so wasn’t as good a space as some of the leather sofa’d sections inside.
Unfortunately it definitely is a GK house, but at least, along with the usual IPA, Abbott and OSH there was London Glory and the seasonal ale Sundance, which actually wasn’t a bad attempt at a summer ale.
And, although it has all the trappings of a gastro pub, the menu actually looked reasonable, both in price and available tradition pub fair. But we didn’t eat here so I cannot comment on the food.
So , all in all not a bad modern style pub, but if I was a resident of East Molesey I think I probably would be spending more of my time in the Kings Arms or the more traditional Albion further down the street.
