ROB Camra left this review about Parish

Large one roomer converted from a church. It's retained a lot of the original features around the walls including burial plaques etc, but any character it had in the centre of the church has been replaced by modern metal & glass walkways. There are still bell ropes hanging from the ceiling behind the bar. Do they ring last orders on these, I hope so. There are several large TV screens, muted when we were in. Most of the tables and chairs look like they are designed for dining, but there were only two people eating on Sunday afternoon. The music was a bit "banging disco" for late afternoon, but it was at a sensible volume, so you could still hear each other talk. Lot's of typical fizz on the bar with a single handpump selling John Smiths Cask, which was OK if served rather cold. The ladies had red wine which they said was decent enough. It's not really my sort of place but the other half likes it which is why we called in again on this visit to York. It's probaly a 4 for me but an 8 for her, so 6 it is.
