Tried to call in here twice on Friday. Once at the start of my crawl of Edgeley and again at the end. The blinds were closed and there was no sign of life. They were still advertising their Xmas menu in the window as well. It's not looking good for this one.

This is a fairly basic pub with the traditional two room lounge and vault format. The vault was empty on my Saturday afternoon visit, but I had a look in and there's a pool table (which had a cover on) and a dartboard. The carpeted lounge had a clearly local regular customer base, all on name terms both between themselves and with the landlord. Despite being mostly older drinkers there was karaoke advertised for Saturday night so maybe the customer base changes or perhaps there's a lot of Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra numbers! They have a rack by the door with the local bookies betting slips in.
The local Robinsons beers, regulars Unicorn, Hatters Mild plus limited edition Slow Kiss Goodnight which was a decent drop (£2.40).
The sort of pub that has disappeared from many towns completely, no frills but friendly and serving a purpose to a client base who are by default excluded from many modern bars, long may it prosper.
