This has varied between pub and French brasserie over the years. The pub side is holding its own at the moment but there is still quite a brasserie feel to the place with its posh furnishings. It extends over quite a wide frontage but is not very deep. The former car park spaces at the front have been repurposed as a patio, and there is a further patio area to the side. The ales seemed to be in good nick if unexciting, being TT Landlord, Tribute and Doom Bar.

An attractive "cared for" exterior with well tended flowering baskets, the interior has a made over feel with the bar front, ceiling and some walls all painted a sort of magenta shade, this sort of thing is usually in my experience a good indication of gastro intentions. The space is long and narrow and divided into sections, and at the furthest right end there is the formal dining room with white linen set tables. The other areas have less formal seating with cushioned benches and scatter cushions, plus a few armchair seats in the bar area. There were menus on the tables as well as a few chalkboards, pretty fancy looking stuff with a fixed price menu of £14 for two courses, £16.45 for three.
Decor includes a few arty prints and photos, there are a few non-original reclaimed beams and a couple of fireplaces, one housing a log burning stove. A dividing unit contained a selection of board games.
There certainly wasn't a problem with popping in for a pint, and apart from the set tables at the end there didn't appear to be any restrictions on seating. A Sunday lunch visit may give a clearer picture on that score.
Three handpumps, Pride, Doom Bar and a decent drop of Twickenham Ales Grandstand (£3.30).
The gents are worth a visit (for those who legitimately can of course) as there are framed collections of old beermats dating from what I reckon to be the 60's in the most part.

A former coaching inn, the interior is on the unusual side, what with bare brickwork and random iron poles stretching from floor to ceiling - I bet someone's done themselves an injury on those at chucking-out time. Decent beer selection, three ales and my pint of St Austell Tribute was in very good condition. Expensive though. Real fires available for the winter months. French food is available and there is also quite a big function room. Atmosphere inside was pretty good. Worth visiting for the interior and beer.
[Edit – since this review was written, I believe that the place is now a lot more restaurant than pub]
