Andy Ven left this review about The Chequers
Village local with Greene King IPA and Abbot on handpull (plus one unused handpull at the time of my visit last Friday lunchtime).
The main front room is split into 3 sections: one part has hard flooring, a quiz machine and a dart board; the middle part has a carpeted floor, padded pew style seating and a piano and this is also where the bar is situated; the third section has been knocked through from the bar area (although the fireplace and twigs act as a divider between these sections) and has more comfortable padded bench seating and dining chairs. There is also a door from this section through to a some steps which lead to a wood panelled lounge / function room. A small hard surfaced beer garden is at the front.
The service was friendly enough and the punters seemed to be regulars of the retired generation. I would happily go again if I was around the area in future although my personal preference, if I had to choose locally, was the Hare Arms.
