This is one of the few remaining pubs in the town centre which hasn't been modernised in recent years and it retains its traditional appearance with an ornate horseshoe bar, dark wood panelled walls and a stone flagged floor. A mysterious stairway leads to an upper level, although it's unclear what's there. Attractive "Harrow Inn" and brewery and distillery mirrors decorate the walls. There is a pool table in an alcove at the rear, a couple of games machines and four televisions. It offered very good value, with a pint of Carling lager costing just £2.80. Tennent's, Carlsberg and Stella Artois lagers, Guinness, Belhaven Best and Strongbow cider were also on draught. I would probably regard this as my favourite pub in Galashiels.
