The apex doors give way to a lecturn stating "wait to be seated " but ignore this ,walk past the dining tables to either side and tell the bar staff that you just want a drink.There are 4 small high tables opposite the bar where you can pitch your pints,gather around or drink vertically but there will be passing staff carrying food to the diners.There is a much large restaurant at the rear and all dining tables are set with cutlery.
The food offering continues later into the night than many city centre restaurants and hence the tables will be used until pub closing times,so seating for drinkers will always be limited.
The star of the show here is the ale selection and conditioning and it fully deserves its 2026 GBG listing.The staff are chatty and friendly too.The ale choice will focus on Cairngorm Brewery and on our two visits the choice was their Nessies Monster Mash chesnut ale,Black Gold and Cairngorm IPA (NBSS 4.5 ,outstanding).
This was by far the best ale we found in Inverness and although you may not feel like staying for more than two pints,those ales will be memorable.
