This is an old hotel where the bar areas seem to have been modernised. I went in the front area which is a roughly square room with a wooden floor and black leather furnishings. There was a large TV showing a gardening programme which was changed by the elder of two school age brothers who made a later entrance. He switched it to a channel showing a load of great big American blokes playing netball and then ignored it in preference to fiddling with his phone.
There are two hand pumps which had the uninspiring choice of Doom Bore or wye Valley Butty Bach. I went for the Butty Bach (£3.00) which seemed to be in good nick. If this was a typical ale choice I wouldn't bother with a return visit.
