Will Larter left this review about Fairy Glen Hotel

A popular spot in Capelulo, close to the small but very attractive peaks of the Conwy mountain. Half a dozen or so family groups were enjoying the afternoon sunshine in front of the pub when I arrived. Inside I found a fairly small pub with three cramped rooms, a pool table in the one to the left making it even smaller. (There may be another room - I didn't explore further.)

The bar has three hand pumps that could do with the application of some metal polish, which is seldom a good sign, and some better beer would be nice. Just Wainwright Amber, and according to the manager he would need to put a new barrel on and disappeared for a couple of minutes. He poured the first pint away and handed me the second, which had some bits of dirt on the rim from the shelf it had been sitting on. When this was pointed out, I was poured the next pint - without apology - which failed to clear and when I took a cautious sip it was lacking in flavour but well provided with suspended solids. I took it back and asked him to have another go. He made irrelevant remarks like "it's an amber beer", to which I replied that amber doesn't mean cloudy, and I've had this beer many times before and never looking or tasting like that. He pulled another pint which gradually cleared and I thanked him. Not once did he come even close to apologising for giving me nearly six quid's worth of rubbish that he hadn't cleared from the pipes. (I have scored both the undrinkable beer - NBSS 0.5 - and the replacement - NBSS 1.5 - given the grudging nature of the service and the complete incompetence as regards cask beer.) Anyone considering a visit to this pub should think again.
