As describe by Will and Aqualung, below, we stayed here by chance, and it proved a good call. The rooms were basic, but comfortable, and the food was also basic, but well cooked and plentiful, representing good value. The sole ale was, again, Aur Y Felin, in good condition. It remains the best bet for a pub in Llanwrst, though it was suggested we could try the local social club; we didn’t. I’d be happy to come back here next time I’m in the area.

This smart and - from the river - imposing hotel has a back street entrance to the lounge bar and through that to the larger Ancaster Bar. The barman was doubling on reception, so I had to wait to be served, but the beer was worth the wait: Cwrw Nant
Aur Y Felin 3.8% (NBSS 3.5), £4.20. The lounge bar is a pleasant room with mustard colour walls, bare floorboards and a variety of good old furniture. This is the only real ale outlet in Llanrwst on a Monday, when the New Inn foes not open. Worth a visit any day; although there's only one beer available, it's a good one.

This is a smart residential hotel with two bars both open to the public. The first one you encounter from the hotel entrance is the plush lounge bar which was quite busy on my late Saturday afternoon visit. I went through a door to the public bar which was empty and had a large silent TV. Although this bar has mostly wooden furniture all the tables seemed to be geared up to serving meals.
Both bars have two hand pumps but the two local Nant beers are sold from the posh side. These were Eryr Aur and Chwerw Braf both of which were £2.90 and in good condition. It's not really my sort of place this but is worth checking out to see what Nant beers are on. Oh, and the river behind the garden is the Conwy not the Clwyd as can be seen from the map on this site. Ut gets a strong six.
