This pub used to have a good carvery, we visited this Sunday expecting to enjoy a good carvery meal at £6 per head. We were told that the carvery was not available as it was too warm for the chef to work at! We should have gone home then, instead we ordered two beef lunches and what arrived was totally awful; a portion of microwaved beef, a small portion of frozen peas, ditto carrots, watery shredded cabbage all smothered in tasteless gravy, even the roast potatoes, very small portion, and new potatoes, again a very small portion, were hard.We realised why carvery wasn't available, we might have chosen some reasonable food to put on our plates or if the display consisted of what we got we may have gone elsewhere. To add insult to injury as we left we saw a sign offering two roasts for £11, so we were also overcharged. Never again will we darken the doors of The Bluebell, they didn't even have any sparkling water to sell, my wife having to have tap water.
The pint of premium lager I bought was at London prices £3.60 a pint!
If this is the best they can offer then the strong competition in the village and nearby will wipe them out.
