This 600 year old free house is definitely worth a visit. Since the review below the pub became an Indian Restaurant, which closed and then reopened six months ago reverting back to a pub again. We were tipped from one of the locals in the Red Lion Bromsgrove about this pub and decided to give it a go. The pub is difficult to spot as it is set back off the main road.
Once through the doors we were welcomed by a friendly barmaid and a couple of the locals at the bar. The pub had a choice of ten handpumps, so I immediately went for a Locale, Ambridge Brewery Sticky Dog brewed in Inkberrow, which was superb. Other beers tried were Woodcote Manor Supreme Pale Ale, Attwoods Pale Ale, Slaughter House Pacific Pale Ale and Otter Brewery Poppy.
The pubs layout consisted of a large lounge and bar on entry, a rear room with bar. The main bar had a choice of 6 ales and the rear bar a choice of 4.
The main large room had a solid oak bar, wood burning stove, piano, pool table and a five bar timber gate above the back bar. The pubs new owner is a dedicated patron of real ale and knows how to run a good cellar.

This Pub has been completely renovated and although it looks very nice had little atmosphere. The food matched the atmosphere awful I am sure my 13yr old granddaughter could have served up better. Steak pie in a rich gravy ...a slice of overcooked pie hard and dry, gravy non existent, scampi overcooked and very greasey, salad poor with lettuce beyond its serving date. I hope they improve but I for one will not be going back to find out
