A large and fairly conventional if slightly tedious sort of pub, extending round an island bar with a pool table in the section round the back. The front section feels more aimed at dining, although food was not on offer on this visit. Decor is tidy if slightly tedious, with corporate overtones, ie much of it feels like it was selected from a catalogue. 3 handpumps on the bar offered TT Landlord, GK Rocking Rudolph and Black Sheep Snowflake, the latter of which was a struggle to get out of the pump and would have benefitted from staying there. I can't say there was much to call for a return visit, apart perhaps from the large car park which could be handy.

A long building on the right as the road north takes us out of town, and as it turns out on entering, a low ceilinged building too. The bar counter is long and substantial, with three hand pumps. The Timothy Taylor Landlord clip was turned around, but on enquiry it was swiftly restored to action. My half cost me £2.50 and was in decent condition (NBSS 2.5), having perhaps become a little stale in the pipe. The outstanding feature here is the fireplace to the left, which prompted a debate about whether it was made of bricks that have become old, repurposed old bricks, fake old bricks, or even old fake bricks. I'm inclined to side with the fake old bricks, as there is also an arrangement of fake old beams in front of it. The fact that this is the most interesting feature could either encourage or discourage future visitors.

The Swan & Talbot is a decent looking pub with a long frontage, the hanging baskets outside also looked quite nice.
Once inside the bar faces in a long single room which runs the width of the pub,the front area is carpeted, the left side is for drinkers and the right side seem d more of a dining area, there is a separate room up some steps to the left, the seating is pew seats and normal tables and chairs.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Collingham Blonde which was a decent drink, the other beers were Roosters Yankee and Taylor Golden Best.
Food was being served and the TVs were showing the Olympics.
The pub was very busy with most being drinkers.
Another pleasant pub i found in Wetherby.
