Looks like a 1920’s/30’s building but is apparently from the 1950’s. Either way it’s fairly attractive and was converted by Timbo from a pub called the Black Bull in 2011. Relatively small and personable compared to the average JDW experience with a mix of recent refurb and traditional wood panelled Spoons-U-Like. Four guest cask on the go and no problem with my pair of Saltaires (NBSS 3.5 x2). Friendly punters and staff. A good suburban Wetherspoon.

Standard small ‘spoons one ground floor room with L shaped counter to the rear right and with a standard 5+5 pulls plus T-Bars set up. Lots of evidence of removed walls in the form of pillars and a fireplace. Usual mix of tables and seating, maybe a bit more bench type than standard. Little to distinguish it from many others but it’s a reasonable place for a pint, the quality of my Rooster’s was pretty good.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Crossed Shuttle (JD Wetherspoon)
Although in a side street, this is quite an imposing building which has survived better than several other landmark buildings in the town. Partly opened-out to leave seating / dining areas on three sides of the central bar. Dark furniture and dimly lit, with a few local history displays in the back section which benefits from some larger windows. Reasonable selection from the two banks of five handpumps, with two Goose Eye beers - Chinook (£2.15) and the seasonal Blighty's Revenge - Acorn's Drop Kick, White Wolf from Little Critters and Phoenix Wobbly Bob noted.
