An old pub, see the photo of the plaque, but very modernised inside with new flags, tiles, but fortunately no grey paint. It does of course have the screens, juke box and machines beloved of pubco’s everywhere. Double fronted, there’s a separate snug off to the right with a larger bar on the centre and left. The servery covers both from its rear right corner location, four pulls with two on from Goose Eye, a very decent Chinook plus their Bitter and three T’s of the usual keg stuff, one T is devoted to syrup based fruit “cider”. Very plain decor but being World Cup times the place was covered in St George’s Cross flags, modern furniture although I spotted a Britannia table and some seating is banquette. There’s a drinking / smoking space in a yard on the left, a beer garden is signed but it was a wet day so I didn’t check it out. Very quiet on my visit. but I suspect it’s a decent locals pub.

The Red Lion is just along from the Robin Hood and opposite the weir which was flowing really fast after an heavy downpour.
Once inside there is a single oblong shaped room with the bar to the rear right, the flooring is stone to the rear and wood laminate to the front, this looked a bit odd in an old pub like this.
The seating is normal tales and chairs, there is also a small snug to the front right.
There were three real ales on the bar,i had a drink of Goose Eye Chinook which went down very well, the other beers were Saltaire Blonde and Bear Yorkshire Ale.
There was a real fire on the go to the rear.
This is a decent enough pub, with some decent beers on the bar.
