Super real ale pub situated slightly out of the way down a steep hill a couple of miles from Halifax.A couple of years ago the pub had a serious renovation and refit,which included a new bar, flagged floors and rustic furnishings.There is now 4 distinct drinking areas,the bar area which faces you on entry,a seated area to the left,and on the right a smallish room which then leads to a second small cosy room through a bricked archway which has a good selection of historical prints from local areas.
Called in on a Tuesday lunchtime where there was already a fair crowd of customers enjoying the roaring fire and and the wide range of guest beers,among which was 4 from the Ossett Brewery,and beers from the Rat Brewery and Steaming Billy brewery.Although parking looks a little tricky,there is a regular bus service with a bus stop about 150 yards away. Definitely worth a visit

A most excellent drinkers pub , good choice of beer served by friendly bar staff in a great atmosphere. It's not a posh pub with its stone floor but if your after a great pint look no further. PS mines a "London Pride"
