The Yew Tree is an estate boozer with two bars, I had a nose into the empty right-hand bar to see a pool table in what would also double up as a function room, but I spent my time in the left-hand bar with some Thursday night locals. Standard keg was available alongside San Miguel and Cruzcampo, the bar staff were missing, but some locals got involved on my behalf to beckon them back. TNT Sports was playing muted European football replays on the televisions and the jukebox was playing. The staff were friendly, as were the locals, but in my 15 plus years of reviewing pubs I have to say that the toilets here were the most pungent I’ve ever encountered. Maybe my visit was just after a horse had just relieved itself into a fan, but Dobbin was nowhere to be seen. Nice people, shit pub.

An estate-type pub, although many of the surrounding houses are older so possibly a rebuild? Anyway, it features a plain but tidy lounge, with a pinball machine and pool table. No real ale of course, and not even any John Smith's or Worthington's, so I went for the Madri Excepcional (a new Spanish-style lager from Molson Coors, £3.60).

Typical "estate" pub. A bit rough around the edges with the usual array of locals lining the bar. Nothing on the beer front so it was a Stella visit! Having said that the Football was on and there was a pool table.
