A terraced Georgian styled pub, just re-opened after 4 years in the wilderness. The pub is white rendered with the lower frontage in brown salt-glazed tiles. The upper storeys have 6 4-pane sash windows and the lower storey two bay windows. There are rusticated quoins and a nice moulded string-course. There is a rear smoking area.
The interior has two room, with the rear room served from a hatch. The front room is more the lounge. The wooden serving bar dominates what is a small space. The room is in cream, red and wood panel, with a wall of red and white patterned wallpaper. There is a cream ceiling with white cornice and a wood floor. There is a fireplace by the door and a TV on the wall, this was showing footy. There was no music and few pictures on the walls. The rear room, up a few steps, has a pool table and dart board. It also is in red and cream with wood panel, but has a red patterned carpet. Again, there are no real pictures on the walls. The service was friendly and there was just the one person in at my visit.
Beer; no real ale at present though the intention is to have it on. All the usual keg stuff, without MILD, as yet - again, the intention is to have it. The Guinness was fine.
A friendly place making its way after re-opening after many years of closure. Pleased i popped in and will again, hopefully when the real ale is on. Good luck to them.
