Large foody pub on the main road. Plenty in eating. It was a nice day so we sat outside. Not a bad pub but better options up the road!

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Wheatsheaf
Greene King Flaming Grill outlet, so you know what to expect, although the areas around the bar are generally more pub-like (with a pool table off to one side). However, about two-thirds of the space beyond is clearly intended for those dining (and all surprisingly full on a Wednesday evening). Bland fake Tudor façade, matched by the dull semi-modern furniture and decor inside. IPA (£2.99) and Abbot available from two of the three handpumps, with the seasonal Un-beer-lievable being readied on the other.

UPDATE: Now a Greene King Flaming Grill place and repainted yet again. Layout is still the same. Real Ale choice is still as dull (my personal tastes) so my last visit saw me comparing Peroni and San Miguel as though it were a football match in the way blokes do. San Miguel took the Euro Lager Cup with an injury time deflected winner. Little things....

Update: This has pub has been refurbished and opened as a John Barras chain pub. The exterior remains the same except the cream render has become white. The arrangement inside is the same, although the decor has changed; The walls are coffee and salmon painted brick in the bar, cream, coffee, wood panel and brown patterned wallpaper in the dining area (with a salmon painted brick small fireplace). The floor is wood in the bar and brown patterned carpet in the dining bit, with a general white ceiling. There are several TVs about with Sky Sports. A few mirrors and old local photos now decorate. The hearth feature remains. They do a general menu - from 2 for £8 onwards and the food is OK. The service is friendly and the place was rammed with a really mixed clientele, from families to local lads. The beer choice has improved - still no MILD, but a couple of handpulls are on all the time, sadly with general choices - Greene King IPA, which of course i ignored, so i had the Black Sheep Bitter which was a little cold. The pool and darts remain. In a way, it is the same as before, only with basic real ale. Still a place i would visit on the odd occasion

A detached 19th century pub and eatery in cream render and fake beams. There are two extensions, one of which is in undressed brick. There is a beer garden and a front patio area.
The interior is an long open plan room. Access is from the car park. The area you walk into (brick extension) is a bar, with a pool table, dart board, juke-box and a TV, which had general stuff on. The middle area, where the serving bar is, is like a lounge, with tables and chairs and has a central undressed brick hearth feature. Througn an arch is the dining area. i have eaten here a few times and the meals are better than the functional you would expect at the price. The decor all over is undressed brick, white (some painted brick, some plastered) and a coffee colour. There is a white ceiling with fake beams. There isn't much in the way of pictures or ephemera, i saw a few plates and some mirrors in the dining area. The service is fine and the clientele locals, usually younger based from my experience.
Beer; tap stuff without a MILD. They do a up to two real ales, Spekky Hen and a decent enough Black Sheep bitter, but these are on irregularly, in fact the last two visits i have had Guinness.
It is a run-of-the-mill kind of place really, the irregular real ale and lack of MILD mean i pop in infrequently and usually stay for just one.
